Klobuchar: “If this is issued, it’s no longer going to be a decision between a woman and her doctor.”

Klobuchar: “Clearly [the Court] is inserting their own political judgment for what has been the law of the land.”

WASHINGTON – On CBS Mornings, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, highlighted the need to protect women’s right to make their own health care decisions, criticizing the Supreme Court’s reported ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

“What the court would be doing is overturning 50 years of precedent, something that has been on the books that women have relied on, that 75 to 80 percent of the public support and says should not be overturned,” Klobuchar said on CBS Mornings. “So clearly they are inserting their own political judgment for what has been the law of the land.”

Klobuchar emphasized the dangers of the reported Supreme Court decision, asserting on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show that “if this [ruling] is issued, it’s no longer going to be a decision between a woman and her doctor.”

Klobuchar also underscored the threat this decision poses to women’s access to reproductive health care, noting on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon: Roe v. Wade should be codified into law so we don’t have a patchwork of state laws and we protect women from bus rides across the country just to make their own personal health care decisions.”
