WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) met with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Joe Biden’s nominee to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Following their meeting, Senator Rosen released the following statement announcing her support for Judge Jackson’s confirmation:

“Throughout her years of public service and during her confirmation hearings, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has demonstrated her broad experience, her remarkable qualifications, her vast legal knowledge, and her sound judgment as a thoughtful and evenhanded jurist,” said Senator Rosen. “Her historic confirmation will also bring an important and unique perspective to our nation’s highest court. One of the most important aspects of my job as a Senator is to consider lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court, and I take this responsibility seriously. After reviewing Judge Jackson’s record and meeting with her today to discuss key issues that affect Nevadans, I am confident she will be an exceptional Justice who upholds the Constitution and supports the rule of law, and I look forward to voting for her confirmation this week.”

Judge Jackson has been confirmed by the Senate on a bipartisan basis three separate times before as a federal circuit judge, a district court judge, and a U.S. Sentencing Commission member. She was unanimously rated “Well Qualified” for the Supreme Court by the American Bar Association (ABA). She will be the first former public defender and first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court, bringing both professional and demographic diversity to the bench.
