Menendez, Barrasso Celebrate Senate Passage of Their Resolution Honoring Greece’s 201st Independence Day

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today was joined by Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) in releasing the below statements celebrating the Senate’s unanimous passage of their bipartisan resolution commemorating the 201st anniversary of Greek Independence Day. The bipartisan resolution honors Greece and the United States’ commitment to democracy as well as the countries’ rich friendship and partnership.

 

“Today, the Senate speaks with one voice to affirm the enduring bond between the United States and Greece,” Chairman Menendez said. “Rooted in our shared admiration for and devotion to democratic governance and protections for fundamental freedoms, our nations’ friendship and partnership only grow as we continue to work together to advance common interests, including securing peace and stability in the Western Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean region. I look forward to joining members of the Hellenic community in New Jersey and across the country in celebration of Greek Independence Day and helping to strengthen U.S. engagement with Greece in the 3+1 framework.”
