WASHINGTON – Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, Congressman Kelly Armstrong and Governor Doug Burgum today issued the following statements after the National Park Service announced the appointment of Angie Richman as Superintendent of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP).
“We are working to advance important priorities at the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, having secured $39 million for the repair of the south unit’s scenic loop while also pressing officials across multiple agencies to expedite the repair process,” said Senator Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. “We will continue these efforts with Superintendent Richman, and look forward to working with her to complete this repair and other improvements to the park as soon as possible.”
“Welcome Angie Richman to the best of ‘Americas best idea,’ Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I look forward to working with you in your new role to address the maintenance backlog, continuously improve the park’s experience, and expand access to North Dakota’s national treasure,” said Senator Cramer.
“Theodore Roosevelt National Park is the top tourist destination for North Dakotans and visitors to our state. It is important to maintain the park for future generations to enjoy and I look forward to working with Superintendent Richman,” said Congressman Armstrong.
“As our state’s most popular attraction, Theodore Roosevelt National Park is incredibly important to North Dakota’s history, economy and quality of life. We congratulate Angela Richman on her appointment as TRNP superintendent and look forward to collaborating with her to improve the park experience for travelers and residents alike,” Gov. Doug Burgum said. “We’ve worked with our congressional delegation and Interior on funding to repair the South Unit’s scenic loop, and our successful efforts to secure over $100 million in private donations and a public endowment for the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum next to the national park in North Dakota’s beautiful Badlands will make the park an even more attractive destination for generations to come.”
