WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $849,045 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Ryan White Title II Formula Grants Program for HIV/AIDS primary health care, medications, and support services in West Virginia.
“The addiction epidemic has caused HIV numbers to increase in our state, reinforcing the need to strengthen our Ryan White Title II programs in West Virginia, and this funding will help in that effort,” Senator Capito said. “As a leader on the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for resources that help advance the value and organization of HIV/AIDS treatment in our communities.”
“The drug epidemic that continues to ravage West Virginia has unfortunately also led to an increase in infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS in many communities across our state,” Senator Manchin said. “I am pleased HHS is investing in West Virginia’s efforts to expand access to treatment and care in the Mountain State. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to help West Virginia combat the drug epidemic and ensure all West Virginians have access to the healthcare services they need.”
