WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s first State of the Union address:
“My general takeaway is this: President Biden is unserious. He’s not serious about fixing the very real economic crises he created.
“In his inaugural address, President Biden called for unity. He stated, ‘I pledge this to you: I will be a President for all Americans,’ and ‘unity is the path forward.’ However, his first year in office only divided us further.
“He does not understand the urgency of the moment.
“We are facing skyrocketing inflation and soaring gas prices not seen since the Carter Administration. The similarities don’t stop there, Biden’s foreign policy strategy of weakness and appeasement botched the withdrawal from Afghanistan and emboldened Vladimir Putin to invade freedom-loving Ukraine. We have a geopolitical opportunity at our fingertips to use the peaceful tools of domestic energy development and production to fend off lethal war. This Administration seems more intent on weakening what has made us strong by bogging our workers down with arbitrary mandates, limiting the development of our abundant resources, and appeasing the radical voices in their party.
“This is what Americans needed to hear: It’s time to change course.”
