U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, issued the following statement regarding President Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

“Congratulations to Judge Jackson on her nomination to the Supreme Court. I look forward to meeting with her in person, and getting to know her and her judicial philosophy.

Unfortunately, the Senate Judiciary Committee has, in the past, been a place of grandstanding and rabid partisanship. I hope all Senators treat this nomination with the decorum, respect, and careful scrutiny that a lifetime appointment to our nation’s highest court deserves. We should take a hard look at Judge Jackson’s judicial philosophy.

I look forward to rigorously examining Judge Jackson’s writings and judicial philosophy according to the principles enshrined in our Constitution that have guided my approach to all judicial appointments.”
