Today, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) opposed the confirmation of Robert Califf to be the commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“Robert Califf is the wrong choice to lead the FDA and I couldn’t vote for his confirmation today,” Inhofe said. “Under Califf’s leadership at the FDA during the Obama administration, the department reduced reporting requirements on abortion pills, preventing the FDA from gathering important data on the danger of these pills. Further, the Biden administration recently moved to allow mail-order abortions, yet Dr. Califf has failed to express opposition to these efforts. It is clear that Dr. Califf will not fight for life, and I cannot support his nomination. I have and will continue to be a staunch advocate for life in the Senate.”
