WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement today after learning that John M. Gerrard, United States District Court Judge for the District of Nebraska, will be taking senior status in 2023:
“Judge John Gerrard is an accomplished, skilled, and respected jurist who has served Nebraskans on both the Nebraska Supreme Court and federal district court. I value his counsel and friendship, and I have always enjoyed hearing his enlightening observations about life. I thank him for his many years of service to our state and wish him the very best as he moves to this next chapter.”
Senators Fischer and Sasse will soon announce the application process for Nebraskans interested in filling Judge Gerrard’s vacancy on the Nebraska federal bench. This process, which Senator Fischer set up with former Senator Mike Johanns, was used to fill three judicial vacancies in Nebraska.
