CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) will receive $277,642 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support the state’s hazardous waste management program.
“Investments like this from EPA help WVDEP control the generation, transportation, treatment, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste,” Ranking Member Capito said. “These actions help ensure our environment stays clean and our public health is protected.”
“Keeping West Virginians safe from hazardous materials is vital to helping our entire state thrive. This funding from the EPA will help the state implement a plan to safely address hazardous waste across the state and continue supporting impacted communities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding that helps West Virginia protect our communities and our people,” Senator Manchin said.
