WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement ahead of the national March for Life. The full statement and video are below.

“To all who march, thank you. Thanks for giving your time – that irrevocable gift – and for braving the cold to stand as a voice for the voiceless. I have always promised the people of North Dakota that I would fight for life at all stages. I will always fulfill that promise. This is an issue of women’s rights, and it is one of the most important issues of our day – perhaps the most important. It is an issue for the millions of women who have been denied the right to life. I fully support women’s rights, I just begin supporting them 9 months earlier some of my colleagues on the other side of this very important issue. The sanctity of life is not a political fight, but a fight for humanity itself. Now is the time to join together to give the future of our country—our next generations—the right to life.”

Background:

Earlier this week, Senator Cramer received an A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony List for his strong legislative record supporting pro-life measures.
Additionally, Senator Cramer joined Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), and over 200 members of Congress in filing an amicus brief supporting the State of Mississippi in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, urging the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold Mississippi’s law protecting life.

In the 117th Congress, Senator Cramer has co-sponsored a number of pro-life bills including legislation to ban abortion after 20 weeks of fertilization, protect unborn babies with Down syndrome, and give states the authority to exclude abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid funds. He has also pledged to vote against any bill that would undermine the Hyde Amendment, which is a legislative provision barring the use of federal funds to pay for abortion or any other abortion-related activities.
