WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention has awarded a $682,573 grant to Cuyahoga County through its Second Guidance for Invited Applications for Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces program to fund the Ohio ICAC Task Force Program. This funding will help law enforcement create a task force dedicated to developing effective responses to online enticement of children by sexual predators, child exploitation, and child obscenity and pornography cases.

“We have a collective responsibility to protect our children from online predators, and it’s increasingly important as more of our children turn to technology for education and entertainment,” said Brown.  “This funding will ensure that the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office has the resources to properly investigate and prosecute online predators, while putting the wellbeing of victims and their families first.”

Funding from the program will assist the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO) continue to proactively investigate and prosecute online offenders seeking to exploit children, as well as address the widespread dangers that access to the internet pose for children and teens. Funds will also allow CCPO to maintain staffing levels necessary to conduct ICAC investigations, forensic examinations and serve as a technical resource for affiliate agencies.
