WASHINGTON, D.C. – In Case You Missed It: On the Senate Floor yesterday, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) highlighted Ohio small businesses and efforts to support their recovery from the pandemic, following Small Business Saturday. During his speech, Brown shared stories from Ohioans about their favorite local small businesses they are supporting this holiday season and the impact these businesses have on their communities. Programs that Brown helped write and pass – such as the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the American Rescue Plan – have been integral in helping these businesses survive and recover from the pandemic.

“This pandemic has hit our small businesses hard, and for so many of them, they are still paying their workers and serving their community because of PPP, and because of our work through the American Rescue Plan to get people vaccinated,” said Brown. “PPP helped Ohio businesses survive. Vaccines are bringing back customers, and allowing these small businesses to thrive again.”

Brown helped write and pass the American Rescue Plan, which included $50 billion in funding to help small businesses keep their doors open and get back on their feet, and assistance to help businesses better understand and navigate the federal programs available to them.
