FARGO – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), member of the Senate Banking Committee, hosted Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan in Fargo, North Dakota for a visit to North Dakota State University, moderated discussion, and town hall on climate solutions. This moderated discussion and town hall served as the second installment of Senator Cramer’s new speaker series entitled “The Bully Pulpit”, where he hosts a variety of influential public and business leaders in North Dakota to hear from constituents and share their expertise in a format designed for constructive discussions.

“Any opportunity to showcase the exceptionalism and commonsense of North Dakota to business leaders, is a win in my book. I’m grateful Mr. Moynihan took the time to come to Fargo to participate in my ‘Bully Pulpit’ series and learn more about the advancement of carbon capture technology and our innovative energy leadership. In North Dakota, we know how to strike the right balance between energy development, environmental conservation, and the economy. We also know these are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they support American innovation and investment and increase opportunities for our state,” said Senator Cramer

“I thank Senator Cramer for inviting me to hear firsthand about the work being done in North Dakota to help create a clean energy future. We are working with our clients in every industry—including those in North Dakota—to help them transition while ensuring we have the energy we need today to sustain economic growth and development,” said Bank of America CEO Moynihan.

In his opening remarks, Senator Cramer highlighted North Dakota’s leadership in research and innovative climate solutions. He emphasized the need for environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) standards that account for emissions reductions rather than targeting specific fuels.

There were also presentations on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), which Mr. Moynihan expressed a desire to learn more about in previous conversations with Senator Cramer, and questions from North Dakota State University students, energy, bankers, and state government stakeholders. Presenters included North Dakota Lieutenant Governor Brent Sanford, 4H2, Inc., Energy & Environmental Research Center, Summit Carbon Solutions, Rainbow Energy, Denbury, Continental Resources, and Minnkota Power Cooperative.

In addition to the CCUS presentations, Senator Cramer, member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and Mr. Moynihan discussed initiatives to better support veterans.

Following the town hall and presentations, they participated in a press conference. The event was live streamed on Senator Cramer’s YouTube channel. Click here to watch.
