Hickenlooper, Bennet Cheer Appointment of KC Becker as EPA Region 8 Administrator
EPA’s Region 8 covers six states, including Colorado, and 28 Tribal Nations, including the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute tribes
Washington, D.C. – Today U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet welcomed President Joe Biden’s appointment of former Colorado Speaker of the House KC Becker to be an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator. The senators recommended Becker for the job in February.
“Speaker Becker is a leader in the fight for climate action and environmental justice,” said Hickenlooper. “There’s no one better to safeguard Colorado and the West.”
“President Biden could not have made a better choice for Regional Administrator for EPA Region 8,” said Bennet. “As Colorado’s Speaker of the House, K.C. Becker led with distinction, passing landmark legislation to address the climate crisis. Her leadership will be an important asset at EPA as we work to protect Coloradans’ health and the West from the harmful effects of climate change.”
EPA Regional Administrators oversee the implementation and enforcement of federal environmental laws in particular states and Tribal Nations. Region 8 covers Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and 28 Tribal Nations including the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute tribes.
