WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) praised the announcement that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a grant to the Maumee Watershed Conservancy District, through the FY21 Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability & Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program.
Maumee has been awarded over $7 million to replace the railroad bridge that stretches over the Blanchard River, with a three-span, through plate girder, ballast deck bridge.
“This is great news for Northwest Ohio. I applaud the Department of Transportation for providing Ohio with the resources needed to repair and replace our rail infrastructure,” said Portman. “This project will improve efficiency and safety while also creating needed jobs.”
NOTE: Last July, Portman sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg in support of Maumee Watershed Conservancy’s application for the RAISE grant.
