Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) addressed optometrists from across the state at the West Virginia Association of Optometric Physicians Annual Congress, which was held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. Senator Manchin thanked West Virginia’s optometrists for the critical healthcare services they provide to West Virginians and reiterated the importance of passing his bipartisan Dental and Optometric Care (DOC) Access Act. The DOC Access Act would put control over healthcare choices into the hands of patients and doctors, not insurance companies, and provide additional options and better choices to optometrists, especially those who operate their practices as a small business.
“Every West Virginian, and American deserves access to affordable healthcare, including vision care. I applaud West Virginia’s optometrists for their commitment to providing quality vision care to their patients despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. My bipartisan DOC Access Act would improve access to vision care and give patients and doctors greater control over their healthcare decisions. I will continue to urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support this important bipartisan legislation,” said Senator Manchin.
