WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will grant the City of New Orleans $21,653,649.00 for debris removal in the wake of Hurricane Ida. The grant is reimbursement for the cost to remove approximately 400,000 cubic yards of debris.
“This is the type of critical response Louisiana needs after a storm like Ida,” said Dr. Cassidy. “We cannot have a repeat of the year-long wait for relief Louisiana faced after Hurricane Laura. This is welcome aid.”
