WASHINGTON (Nov. 3, 2021) – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is applauding the Senate passage of a bipartisan Senate resolution he cosponsored to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of wildland firefighters and first responders in New Mexico and across the U.S. The resolution passed the Senate unanimously on Tuesday.
“I am forever grateful for the courage and strength of all of the men and women on the front lines of wildland fires. My thoughts continue to be with the family and loved ones of Tim Hart, a smokejumper from Wyoming who lost his life this year battling a wildfire in New Mexico,” said Heinrich. “Tim, like many other brave souls in the fire and first responder community, stepped up to the plate to protect our wildlands and nearby communities. It is my mission to ensure that these frontline heroes have the resources and support they need to combat wildfires, and that they receive proper recognition for their bravery and sacrifice.”
In June, smokejumper and wildland firefighter, Tim Hart of Wyoming, lost his life due to injuries sustained while fighting the Eicks Fire in Hidalgo County, New Mexico.
