WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven joined Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) in introducing a resolution in the U.S. Senate to support parents’ rights to be fully and actively involved in the education of their children. The resolution comes as the Biden Administration has called on the Department of Justice to utilize federal law enforcement resources to discourage parents from speaking out against far-left policies and curriculum in schools.
“Parents play a vital role in their child’s education. They should be able to advocate before their local school board, consistent with their constitutional rights, and without threat of investigation by the DOJ,” said Hoeven. “This resolution makes it clear that parents’ rights to free speech should not be infringed.”
In addition to Hoeven and Scott, the resolution is cosponsored by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and Senators Richard Burr (R-N.C.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), John Kennedy (R-La.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Roger Marshall (R-Kans.), Jerry Moran (R-Kans.), James Risch (R-Idaho), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).
