This week, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), virtually congratulated McCloud residents David and KC Koonce and their family for receiving the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s “Angels in Adoption” award. Over the past four years, the Koonce family has adopted three children and fostered 19 children, all the while seeking to keep siblings together throughout their journey in the foster care system.
“I want to congratulate David and KC Koonce and their family on being selected as a 2021 Angels in Adoption Honoree. David and KC have adopted three children – just recently finalizing the adoption of two siblings – and have fostered 19 children ranging from infants to teenagers. Their continued dedication to children in need is a great example of self-sacrifice and a reminder of the profound impact that adoption and foster care can have on children, their adoptive families and their surrounding communities.
“Adoption has always had a special place in my heart – I am grateful to the Koonces and families like them in Oklahoma who work to ensure all children find a safe and permanent home.”
The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s Angels in Adoption® Program honors a wide spectrum of individuals and organizations making extraordinary contributions in adoption, permanency and child welfare. Each year, the Angels in Adoption® awardees travel to Washington, D.C., to both celebrate their hard work and dedication to the issues and participate in special events designed to engage them in using their personal experience to effect change on behalf of children in need of families. This year, the Angels in Adoption® Program was virtual.
