Inhofe Opposes Procedural Vote on So-Called “Freedom to Vote Act,” Slams Democrat Political Games

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe today voted against a procedural motion to take up the “Freedom to Vote Act,” formerly known as the “For the People Act.” This far-left, partisan legislation seeks to undermine the integrity of Oklahoma’s elections.

“While Democrats are trying to frame the ‘Freedom to Vote Act’ as a ‘compromise’ – that couldn’t be further from the truth,” Inhofe said. “This repackaged, flawed reform bill would supersede Oklahoma’s safe and secure election laws—it is simply bad for Oklahoma and America. It would restore a felon’s right to vote, use taxpayer dollars to fund politicians’ campaigns and weaken state voter ID laws. Not only that, it would make Election Day a federal holiday, which would cost taxpayers a whopping $818 million dollars every year it’s observed. I agree with Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Ziriax—this legislation will be a ‘recipe for chaos’ if Oklahoma is forced to implement it before our upcoming elections. This isn’t about what’s best for the American people, it’s about Democrats trying to rig the system and hold onto power.”
