U.S. SENATE — Today at a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing, Daines questioned President Biden’s nominee to lead U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Chris Magnus, about Biden’s disastrous policies that have caused a crisis at our southern border.

“The Biden administration’s disastrous border policies have led to a massive surge in illegal migrants that has overwhelmed border patrol officers,” Daines said. “In fact, just this calendar year, there has been more than 1.3 million encounters at the southern border due to ending the successful policies of the Trump Administration such as ‘Remain in Mexico’ and ending catch and release. The migrant crisis has left portions of the border more vulnerable to an influx of illicit drugs like Mexican cartel meth, which is making its way to Montana and ravaging our communities.”

At the hearing, Daines pushed Magnus over whether he believed the Administration should continue its dangerous practice of ‘catch and release.’ Watch and download the exchange HERE
