Brown Announces $2.3 Million for Improvements at Akron-Canton Regional Airport

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded three grants, totaling $2,300,000, to make improvements to the taxiway of the Akron-Canton Regional Airport.

“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” said Brown. “This investment will provide Akron-Canton Regional Airport with the resources they need to ensure the safety of their passengers and support the local economy for years to come.”

FAA Funds for the Akron-Canton Regional Airport Include:

  • $950,000 grant for shifting or reconfiguring the existing taxiway.
  • $950,000 grant for widening the taxiway.
  • $400,000 grant for removing parts of the taxiway.

The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program.
