Senator Markey Congratulates Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen in Celebration of Taiwan’s 110th National Day

Washington (October 6, 2021) – Today, Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, sent a letter congratulating Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen upon the celebration of Taiwan’s 110th National Day, which falls on October 10th. In his letter, Senator Markey noted Taiwan’s success over the past year in battling the COVID-19 pandemic, while continuing to be an invaluable regional partner.

 

“On this 110th National Day, Taiwan stands stronger than ever. Taiwan’s COVID-19 pandemic response has been a model for the world to follow,” said Senator Markey in his letter. “The United States recognizes that Taiwan stands ready and able to work alongside the international community in tackling the difficult challenges of our time, whether battling the ongoing pandemic and other global health crisis, combatting climate change, or supporting international development efforts.”
