WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kan.) today announced a $1,500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) for the University of Kansas (KU) Innovation Park to help with the development of innovative technology solutions.
“This grant is an investment in the research and development our universities are doing to meet the challenges of the future,” said Sen. Moran. “The University of Kansas is uniquely equipped to meet the demand for new technologies and businesses through the Innovation Park, which brings professors, students, entrepreneurs and private partners together as they work to develop these new technologies.”
“The KU Innovation Park will be a cutting edge business incubator, helping to create high-paying Kansas jobs while furthering technological research and entrepreneurship opportunities to the region,” said Sen. Marshall. “KU is already a leader in innovation, and this university-affiliated research park will continue to build upon the success and legacy of the Bioscience and Technology Business Center to support a broader range of startups aiming to address specific market needs.”
Last year, Sen. Moran participated in the groundbreaking ceremony to expand the Innovation Park at KU made possible through a $7.8 million federal grant and other public and private partnerships.
