WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), the top Republican on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor/HHS), released the following statement on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s announcement that it has awarded $25 million in grant funding to seven Missouri Community Mental Health Centers:
“As a longtime advocate for improving mental health care in our nation, I’m very concerned with the significant increase in Americans who are struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety, and other mental and behavioral health challenges during the pandemic. This funding will support the vital role that Community Mental Health Centers play in providing affordable, accessible care to people in need. I will continue supporting programs and policies that will move us toward the goal of treating mental health like all other health.”
The resources were included in the Blunt-led FY2021 Labor/HHS funding bill and COVID supplemental.
