WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded $90,000 to fund the first year of a five-year University Center Economic Development Program at Cleveland State University. The Economic Development Program will focus on cultivating innovation, advancing high-skilled entrepreneurship, developing a high-skilled regional workforce, and providing service and technical assistance within these and other themes prioritized by the regional needs. The program will help increase productivity, spur innovation, and promote entrepreneurship to help increase long-term regional competitiveness and economic diversification.
“These funds will provide Cleveland State University with resources to study and overcome economic challenges,” said Brown. “Not only will this investment provide insight on economic issues, but it will empower the next generation of innovators and lead to more economic growth in the region.”
EDA’s University Center program is a competitively-based partnership between EDA and academic institutions that makes the varied and vast resources of universities available to the economic development practitioner community.
