Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) released the following statement after Senate Democrats rejected Republican efforts to fund the federal government through December without authorizing a debt ceiling increase.
“Democrats are currently insisting on a debt ceiling increase that would provide the borrowing authority to cover the dangerous, unprecedented, reckless tax-and-spending spree that they are trying to force through on a strictly party-line basis. I will not be party to these efforts. Democrats have the ability to raise the debt ceiling unilaterally, and that’s what they’ll have to do.”
