Cotton Statement on Huawei Extradition Deal

Washington, D.C. — Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement after reports that the Justice Department reached an agreement to allow Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer, Meng Wanzhou, to return to China:

Meng Wanzhou violated U.S. sanctions, but the Biden administration chose to appease the Chinese Communist Party rather than enforcing the law. Instead of standing firm against China’s hostage-taking and blackmail, President Biden folded. This surrender only encourages the Communists in Beijing to take more Americans and our allies hostage in the future.”
