WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) has awarded a $125,000 grant to the Pickaway Addiction Action Coalition to implement comprehensive community-wide strategies to address the local drug crisis and prevent substance misuse in youth. These funds will be used to help the coalition educate youth on the dangers of alcohol and substance misuse and provide parents, teachers, and coaches with the resources they need to talk with students about prevention.
“In Ohio, where the ongoing pandemic has only exacerbated the addiction crisis, we need to make sure that local communities have the resources they need to educate families on the dangers of substance misuse,” said Brown. “This much needed investment will help the Pickaway Addiction Action Coalition ensure communities in the region have the tools and resources they need to prevent substance misuse in our kids.”
These funds are a part of the ONDCP’s Drug-Free Community (DFC) Program to support local communities as they mobilize individuals and organizations to prevent youth substance misuse by providing local solutions to solve local problems.
Brown has been fighting to ensure ONDCP stays fully funded.
