WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met virtually with the CEO Climate Dialogue, a large group of companies and environmental groups that support carbon pricing as a means to combat climate change. During the meeting, Durbin spoke about his legislation, America’s Clean Future Fund Act. Durbin’s legislation would reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the U.S. transition to a green economy by leveraging revenue raised by a carbon fee to fund a new federal agency called the Climate Change Finance Corporation. Durbin and the CEO Climate Dialogue also discussed the private sector’s role in pushing for real action against climate change.
“The climate crisis is an accelerating existential threat that we must address through bold initiatives. By following the science and working alongside organizations like the CEO Climate Dialogue, we can take the passion for action on climate change and turn it into public policy. We must ensure our grandkids inherit a healthier planet,” said Durbin.
