WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $177,817 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to sixteen small businesses and agriculture producers in rural communities across West Virginia. This investment is through the Rural Energy for America Program which helps agricultural producers and rural small businesses purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements. The Senators also announced $50,000 from the USDA to Woodlands Community Lenders through the Rural Business Development Grants program.

“USDA’s Rural Development program continues to be a great source for revitalization in West Virginia. The projects announced today will help strengthen a variety of sectors in our state’s economy and foster growth for small businesses and economic development initiatives in West Virginia. I’m proud to help deliver investments like this that empower our communities, provide opportunities for our residents, and improve the quality of life for people across our state,” Senator Capito said.

“Investing in West Virginia’s rural communities is vital to supporting and growing our state’s economy.
