WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded a $322,000 grant to the Village of Middleport to replace undersized waterlines with the correct size piping to carry the volumes of water and meet the demand and to secure three water well pits. The funds will help provide better service to 42 businesses and 857 households.
“Strong water and sewer infrastructure is critical to Ohio communities’ ability to be economically competitive,” Brown said. “This funding will help to improve access to safe and clean water for Middleport residents and business owners. I will continue to advocate for resources and push for robust infrastructure funding in Washington so that Ohioans in rural communities have equal access to clean water.”
Additional funding will be provided by state and local sources bringing the total project funding to $3,797,429.
ARC is an economic development agency of the federal government with the mission to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in the Appalachian region.
