WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the Kisatchie-Delta Regional Planning and Development District in Alexandria, Louisiana. The grant will provide funding to purchase and renovate an existing building to create a new Resiliency Center that will support economic development in the region. This project is expected to protect 891 jobs. The bipartisan Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law in March 2020.

“Investments like this create economic opportunities in central Louisiana,” said Dr. Cassidy. “The new resiliency center is a welcome resource as we make a full recovery from the pandemic.”

These projects are funded under the CARES Act, which provided EDA with $1.5 billion for economic assistance programs to help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.
