CINCINNATI, OH – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently awarded nearly $73,952 in grant funding to Cleveland Heights from the Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program. This competitive grant program funds critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience.
“This is exciting news for Cleveland Heights Fire and EMS. Overall, these funds will help increase safety of its firefighters while also helping the community,” said Portman. “Specifically, these funds will help fund several projects that range from retrofitting personal escape belts, purchasing new battery-powered rescue tools, and advance training equipment. I’m grateful for all of our first responders who have stepped up more than ever over the past year and continue to give of themselves for the betterment of their community.”
NOTE: Earlier this year, Senator Portman sent a letter to the Assistant Administrator for Grant Programs, Chris Logan, on behalf of Cleveland Heights Fire and EMS.
