CINCINNATI, OH – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently awarded $60,952 in grant funding to Geneva-on-the-Lake from the Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program. This competitive grant program funds critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience.

“This is exciting news for the Geneva-on-the-Lake Fire Department. Overall, these funds will help increase safety of its firefighters while also helping the community,” said Portman. “Specifically, these funds will also help update and replace old and outdated equipment that is critical in carrying out the department’s mission. I’m grateful for all of our first responders who have stepped up more than ever over the past year and continue to give of themselves for the betterment of their community.”

NOTE: Earlier this year, Senator Portman sent a letter to the Assistant Administrator for Grant Programs, Chris Logan, on behalf of Geneva-on-the-Lake Fire Department.
