CINCINNATI, OH – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently awarded a $38,095 in grant funding to Chester Volunteer Fire Department from the Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program. This competitive grant program funds critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience.

“This is exciting news for Chester Volunteer Fire Department. Overall, these funds will help increase safety of its firefighters while also helping the community,” said Portman. “Specifically, these funds will help the fire department purchase a new set of battery-powered rescue tools as well as stabilization equipment. I’m grateful for all of our first responders who have stepped up more than ever over the past year and continue to give of themselves for the betterment of their community.”

NOTE: Earlier this year, Senator Portman sent a letter to the Assistant Administrator for Grant Programs, Chris Logan, on behalf of Chester Volunteer Fire Department.
