Virtual town hall for Yamhill County begins at 10:30 am, virtual town hall for Columbia County begins at 2 pm
Portland – U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden today announced he will have two live on-line town halls hosted by People’s Town Hall for residents of Yamhill and Columbia counties on Friday, Sept. 3.
The virtual town hall for Yamhill County will begin at 10:30 am, and the virtual town hall for Columbia County will begin at 2 pm.
Wyden has held 970 in-person town halls statewide in fulfillment of his pledge to hold at least one town hall each year in each of Oregon’s 36 counties. Heading into these two online Sept. 3 town halls, Wyden had held 19 virtual town halls for individual counties as well as 15 regional virtual town halls for multiple counties since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020 required his town halls to go virtual.
“I’m looking forward to throwing open the digital doors of democracy and hearing from residents in Yamhill and Columbia counties at these two virtual town halls on September 3,” Wyden said. “These open-to-all conversations allow any Oregonian to ask questions and share their views. These discussions are essential to the ‘Oregon Way,’ and I’m grateful that People’s Town Hall is helping these discussions to continue online for the time being.”

“Town halls are essential to our democracy,” said Nathan Williams of People’s Town Hall, a virtual town hall series from the founders of Town Hall Project. “But during this global pandemic, we strongly encourage all lawmakers adhere to current health guidelines — including holding town halls virtually as long as necessary for public safety.”
“People’s Town Hall invites all of Senator Wyden’s constituents to this town hall — all parties welcome, no issue off limits.” Williams said. “We expect another substantive, vigorous discussion of the issues that matter most to Oregonians.”
