WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded a $250,000 grant to the Village of Frankfort for improvements to its sewage collection system and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The funds will be used to repair 5,633 linear feet of sewer line, update equipment at two lift stations, and replace several pieces of equipment at the wastewater treatment plant. This will improve sewer service to the 67 businesses and 459 households who rely on the plant.
“Up-to-date sewer infrastructure is critical to the health and well-being of Ohio families as well as to local communities’ ability to create jobs and compete,” Brown said. “This investment will have a significant economic impact in Frankfort.”
Additional funding will be provided by state and local sources bringing the total project funding to $3,234,460.
ARC is an economic development agency of the federal government with the mission to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in the Appalachian region.
