SEATTLE, WA – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Seapower Subcommittee, visited Naval Submarine Base Bangor last week to receive classified briefings and tour critical undersea platforms.

“A strong Navy is crucial for our economic and national security. Open ports and security at sea keep our trade efforts going and ensure America remains safe and free,” said Senator Cramer. “I thank the Navy leaders who hosted me and look forward to using what I learned on this trip in future efforts and discussions on how we can best meet America’s naval needs.”

Senator Cramer also visited Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport where he viewed the latest unmanned undersea technologies. Keyport provides technical leadership, engineering expertise, and unique facility complexes which aim to maintain the undersea warfare superiority for the United States. As one of two divisions of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport’s mission focuses on developing and applying advanced technical capabilities to test, evaluate, field, and maintain undersea warfare systems and related defense assets. These advanced technical capabilities directly support the full spectrum of Navy undersea programs.

Through his SASC Seapower leadership position, Senator Cramer has been working to provide critical support for the Navy. In this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), he secured increased assistance for America’s naval fleet.
