U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) issued the following statement following Lockheed Martin’s announcement that it plans to close its Sikorsky facility:
“For decades, the workers at the Sikorsky plant in Coatesville have produced state-of-the-art aircraft, including assembly of perhaps the most recognizable helicopter in the world – Marine One. Despite advocacy by the previous Administration, my congressional colleagues, and me, Lockheed relayed that there is simply not enough government or private work to support the facility. This news is deeply disappointing and my thoughts are with the hundreds of workers and their families that are impacted. My office will continue to engage with local officials and stakeholders regarding the future of the facility and those that have worked there.”
