The Resolution Will Facilitate the Most Robust Relief for Working Families in Generations
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Budget Committee and the Senate Help, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, released the following statement applauding the introduction today of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 budget resolution that will set the stage for a historic investment that will lower costs and cut taxes for American families:
“As a member of the Senate Budget and HELP Committees, I am excited about the opportunity to work on a transformative budget with my colleagues. I believe this bill, among other things, can slash child poverty in the same way that Social Security slashed poverty among seniors. I look forward to the work ahead.”
As a member of the Senate Budget Committee, Kaine has worked tirelessly on this budget reconciliation framework to deliver results for Virginians. The FY2022 budget resolution proposes the extension of the American Rescue Plan’s expansions of the Child Tax Credit (CTC), Earned Income Tax Credit, and Child and Dependent Care Tax Credits. The framework also includes historic investments for affordable health care and childcare, expanded family and medical leave, universal pre-K, higher education, affordable housing, green energy projects, climate resiliency, workforce development, and support for small businesses—all while cutting taxes for middle-class families.
