Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins released this statement following the Senate’s vote of 67-27 to move forward with the approximately $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package this afternoon.  A vote on final passage will occur within the next few days.

“I am delighted that the Senate put the bipartisan infrastructure bill on the road to passage by a strong bipartisan vote of 67 to 27,” said Senator Collins.  “This bill is good for America and will make historic investments in our nation’s roads, bridges, broadband, waterways and airports.”

Senator Collins is one of the 10 Senators—five Republicans and five Democrat—who negotiated the infrastructure package.  She focused on the areas of broadband expansion and funding for highways and bridges.  The other nine negotiators were: Senators Rob Portman (R-OH), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Mark Warner (D-VA), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), and Jon Tester (D-MT).
