Washington, D.C. U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement after opposing Fiscal Year 2022 spending bills during markup in the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

“Democrats have spent the last seven months bouncing from one left-wing priority to another. First it was impeachment, and then it was their three-step plan to fundamentally remake America into a far-left fever dream,” Rubio said. “And now, with a government funding deadline looming, Senate Democrats expect Republicans to blindly move forward on these annual funding bills without a real budget.”

“It is reckless and irresponsible to move forward without an agreement on top-line spending, especially as Democrats attempt to spend $6.5 trillion outside the regular appropriations process,” Rubio continued. “We also have no commitment from President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, or Senator Schumer that long-standing provisions like the Hyde Amendment will remain in place.”

“We need a commonsense, bipartisan appropriations process that strikes an appropriate balance between our national security needs and other priorities, including those of Florida,” Rubio concluded.
