WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, released the following statement after the Senate approved a security supplemental appropriations bill. The legislation provides resources for the National Guard, Capitol Police, and for the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa program, which authorizes visas for eligible Afghan nationals who supported the U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan.
“This legislation provides necessary resources for the Department of Defense, including for the National Guard, and the Capitol Police. Additionally, the bill includes resources to ensure that we don’t leave behind the Afghanis who served as translators and in other important roles for the U.S. military.”
