Brown Announces More Than $8 Million to Improve Airports in Southwest Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded two grants to city and county governments located in southwest Ohio, totaling $8,094,056. The funds will be go towards operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at the airport.

“Ohio airports are vital to supporting travel and commerce in the state,” said Brown. “These investments will help to ensure the safety of Southwest Ohio airports for passengers for years to come.”

DOT funds include:

  • $32,000 grant for Clinton County Board of Commissioners to provide economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at Clinton Field Airport.
  • $7,998,056 grant for City of Dayton to provide economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at James M. Cox Dayton International Airport.
  • $32,000 grant for Warren County Airport Authority & Board of Commissioners to provide economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at Warren County/John Lane Field Airport.
  • $32,000 grant for Darke County Board of Commissioners to provide economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens at Darke County Airport.

The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact. More information about the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program can be found here.
