WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the Senate unanimously confirmed Frank Kendall as the Secretary of the Air Force. As part of his confirmation process, Hoeven spoke with Kendall earlier this summer and invited the Secretary to visit North Dakota to see firsthand the state’s vital missions.
“We look forward to working with Secretary Kendall now that he is confirmed,” said Hoeven. “During his confirmation process, we outlined to him the tremendous role North Dakota plays in our nation’s defense, and the importance of continuing to advance our missions. We outlined Minot Air Force Base, the only dual nuclear base in the nation, and made the case for fully funding nuclear modernization efforts. At the same time, we highlighted Grand Forks Air Force Base’s growing role in the Space Force as well as the key role of the Global Hawk in providing intelligence and surveillance. We also discussed our National Guard’s Reaper mission and advocated for full funding of both the Global Hawk and MQ-9.”
