WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) member, issued the following statement on the Senate confirming Frank Kendall III as Air Force Secretary by unanimous consent tonight:

“It is crucial for the United States to have its military leaders in place as we work to fend off rising threats posed by foreign adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran. I look forward to working with Secretary Kendall on North Dakota’s Air Force priorities of advancing nuclear modernization, supporting intelligence capabilities, and getting our Air National Guard members the resources they need. I hope he will join me for a visit to our state soon so he can see North Dakota’s Air Force capabilities and potential firsthand.”

Senator Cramer spoke with Mr. Kendall in late May about his nomination, where the two discussed the Air Force bases at Minot and Grand Forks. His confirmation comes after SASC advanced this year’s National Defense Authorization Act last week, which contained several of North Dakota’s Air Force priorities.
