WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined a letter led by Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) today to President Joe Biden expressing concern with and seeking answers about the White House announcing it will be flagging American citizens’ speech on social media platforms for misinformation.
“Big tech, the corporate media, and the Administration have no credibility in determining what is and isn’t ‘misinformation,’” the senators wrote.“Americans are rightfully alarmed and suspicious of the motivations behind the Administration’s apparent coordination with tech companies to potentially censor disfavored speech, as vaguely described by Ms. Psaki at the recent White House press briefing.”
In the letter, the senators urge the Administration to halt any actions it has or is currently undertaking to censor Americans’ speech and ask that information be provided on how it is carrying out the work of flagging Americans’ speech to social media companies.
Senators Cramer and Johnson are joined on the letter by Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY), Mike Braun (R-IN), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Rick Scott (R-FL), James Lankford (R-OK), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL).
